• Trained in healthcare epidemiology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
• Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Refugee and Global Health
• Passionate about understanding the Clinical Environment of Care

Dr. Carrico is a senior consultant with Carrico & Ramirez, PLLC focused on infectious diseases, infection prevention and control, and vaccinology. She is also a Professor and Family Nurse Practitioner, gratis faculty, with the University of Louisville School Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Carrico has been in the field of infection prevention and control and healthcare epidemiology since 1994 and has served on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC) with her work being recognized nationally and internationally.

She is an active mentor for healthcare workers as they hone their patient safety and their leadership skills in supporting healthcare change.
